What it does:
A spirit level is a must have for any DIY project that requires something be level. You don't want a bookshelf that's higher at one end than the other, or a tiled floor where all the tiles look uneven, do you?
What it can be used for:
This handy tool can be used for all kinds of jobs. You can make sure you're putting the screws in straight to hang a new radiator, or make sure your curtain rail is straight, or the steps your building are straight. All you need to do is pop the spirit level on the surface you want to be straight, or against the markings you've made on the wall, and check that the bubble is in the middle. If not, move one end or the other up and down until the bubble is in the middle.
