Build a Sensory Play Area

July 12

Free
South Asian Women building with wood outside

Join us to build a Sensory Play Area for the Barnsley community.

We're building a mud kitchen and sensory garden and we need your help to make it happen! The first two weeks are for the mud kitchen, they include measuring and preparing the space , using our material bank to find the appropriate materials to use, prepping and cutting everything, building and finishing!

The following two weeks will involve working with nature and DIY to heighten our sensory experiences of it, and to encourage play that is tactile, scented, calming and even sometimes messy.

We’ll provide all the tools, materials, safety equipment and expertise to help you learn DIY.

You will be outdoors for most of the day, please make sure you dress accordingly. If it's hot and sunny, make sure you wear sunscreen and have a hat...alternatively if its cold/rainy please wrap up warm! In both instances please wear closed toe shoes, boots are more suitable but trainers are also okay.
