This workshop will involve learning how to sew a simple fabric heart. These hearts (or bonding squares) are used at Sheffield Jessop Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to help parents and babies bond . The baby has one in their incubator, the parents have one with them. Each day, the squares can be swapped so that the baby has the parent’s scent and the parent has the baby’s scent. It can be incredibly meaningful to take “a piece” of your baby home with you each day.
Throughout October, we invited local schools, community groups, and the public to take part in workshops led by local artists. They involved lots of different materials and techniques and focused on the themes of community, sustainability, togetherness, and well being.
Over the course of 2 weeks we're holding an exhibition at Riverside House to showcase all of the amazing creativity that the people of Rotherham have.
