DESCRIPTION:Get together\, learn how to sew\, and help parents and babies bond.\nThis workshop will involve learning how to sew a simple fabric heart. These hearts (or bonding squares) are used at Sheffield Jessop Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to help parents and babies bond . The baby has one in their incubator\, the parents have one with them. Each day\, the squares can be swapped so that the baby has the parent’s scent and the parent has the baby’s scent. It can be incredibly meaningful to take “a piece” of your baby home with you each day. \nWhat is Rotherham Creates?\nThroughout October\, we invited local schools\, community groups\, and the public to take part in workshops led by local artists. DESCRIPTION:Looking for hands on work experience in Barnsley?\n\nWe're offering exciting work experience opportunities for 14-16 year olds in Barnsley. No previous experience needed! \n\nSign up to get experience working at an exciting artist run project at the Carers' Garden behind the Metrodome. You’ll learn how to design and build a project based on the what the community wants. \n\nThe project will run from the 12th January to the 5th April 2024. You don’t need you to commit to the entire duration of the project\, you can offer as much or as little time as you are able to. \nSign up here. \n\nThe project\nOver 12 weeks\, you'll work with skilled trades people\, an artist and community members to design and build a wooden structure that will be used by hundreds of people living in Barnsley for years to come. With a team of young people\, you'll decide what you would like to build and the details of the design. Previous groups have built a shed\, pizza oven and outdoor kitchen on allotments. \nSo far the Barnsley Carers' Garden community have expressed an interest in a mini-adventure playground or forest school. We're excited to hear your ideas and support you to design and build an exciting project for Barnsley community! \n\nGetting you ready for work\nDuring your work experience with Brightbox\, you'll gain employability skills to help you get ready for college and your next job. Skills you'll be able to add to your CV include: \n\nTime management\nCo-creation\nTeamworking\nDigital skills including Microsoft suite\, email and project management tools\nGraphic design\nProblem-solving and design thinking\nInitiative and motivation\nCollaboration\nWorking across teams and negotiation\nRisk management and risk assessments\n\nWe'll also support you with setting goals for your future\, finding jobs or further learning that align with your goals and updating your CV and cover letter to include skills gained during your work experience. \nWe'll cover the cost of your travel and one meal each day you work. \n\n\n\n\n\nRead what other Barnsley work experience students gained from working with us:\nEach year\, we work with students from across Sheffield\, Rotherham and Barnsley.
