What we’re looking for?

For a keen documenter or content creator who uses podcasting and video reels (TikTok) to show our young people the ropes of creating engaging clips of their work on the allotments.

Our young people have started creating more of an identity for their collective, recently named Breaking Ground. We hope to gather digital documentation of the community who uses our shared allotment such as Brown Girls With Drills, children, young-people and others. This might be conversations, projects or how-to's. We definitely want to create a short teaser clip of the allotments and maybe kick off a mini-diary series of what they get up to each month. They'll be having monthly gardening sessions with a local expert, so they might like to create easy tutorials. We know how popular video reels are and we think it would be a great way for the group how to promote what they do. The podcasts and video reels would be publicly shared online to encourage new young people to join our sessions.

This will be a 6-week project with 4 sessions. Scroll down to ‘The Details’ for full schedule.

Essential:

You will:

  • work collaboratively with young people, listening and being directed by their ideas
  • teach up to 12 young people how to use social media video reels, field recorders*; sounds of the allotments, clip on mics for interviews etc
  • work collaboratively with young people to achieve their series; chatting about their experiences (opportunities and challenges) and generally what the group is all about.
  • help plan ways for young people to keep generating engaging content
  • basic editing on accessible software or apps
  • how to upload and share their content (video reels, streaming, local radios)
  • make the workshops accessible for the young people to work hands-on, everyone should be able to pitch in
  • demonstrate how to consent and collect information ethically and safely
  • create an inclusive, accessible, and accurate representation of the local community who use the allotments
  • provide an assessment on your environmental and waste impact

Desirable

  • Enhanced DBS check. If you do not have one, Brightbox will request for one on your behalf.
  • Access to a recording studio or workshop space which is local to Allotments for site visits or to avoid bad weather.

*The recording equipment (Zoom H4n Pro + accessories) will be generously loaned by Site Gallery
